As the bible does not authorize or support clergy-laity distinctions, as a Christian I don't have a clergy class. Also, as one of Jehovah's Witnesses, we are no part of the world as Jesus was no part of the world. Therefore, we take no part in political, nationalistic, or other worldly activities.
You are correct. History tells us that early Christians did not continue military service after conversion in the 1st and 2nd Centuries. There is no so-called 'justified war' doctrine in the scriptures.
The Hebrews Scriptures (or Old Testament) records many wars by the Israelites. In some cases they were defending themselves, some were against God's will, and a few were actually commanded by Jehovah. Primarily, God commanded the Canaanites who practiced child sacrifice and demon worship to be destroyed.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
