Why do so many people vote down an answer regarding God and religion when the answer is simply the?

Atheists and Christians have polarised and usually firmly fixed beliefs that they hold dear and passionately believe to be correct.

In themselves, both factions think sharing their belief with others is a perfectly natural and a normal thing to do. To the opposing faction, they often come across as arrogant, condescending, and all the other insults you see hurled around in the forums.

It's an interesting question, but I'm not sure there will be a great deal of objectivity in your responses; it's too impassioned a debate for that.

Don't feel lonely it happens to most Christian hubbers, and probably the non Christians and so forth are doing it, don't take it personally.

Welcome to the reality of Christian persecution! Jesus said, "Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in Heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you."

Matthew5:11,12. Unbelievers don't want to acknowledge God's existance. Many of my responses to the faith get hidden!

Let's see what happens to this one! I always read the hidden answers and decide for myself if they really belong there. Be encouraged...you are in good company if Jesus can compare you to the prophets!

He himself experienced the greatest persecution when they nailed .

Why do so many people take it upon themselves to profess to the world that they have a complete and perfect knowledge of God.

Religion is a creation of man. The only person who can speak for what God is, wants, and knows is God.

In my experience I have yet to meet a person who has had a face to face with God.

There is to date no cure for the common cold, no cure for aids, no cure for cancer.

These "simple" problems can not be solved with certainty by Billions of Dollars of investment research and the worlds most intelligent minds.

It's okay to have a belief system, but when you close your mind to learning you are exhibiting arrogance. Is that what "Your God" wants?

Religion is a private matter. People will always disagree. If God talks to you, keep it to yourself.

In particular, as I read what you say was voted down, the objectionable part to many people may be the 'how good god has been to us' and the 'god takes the time to care about me' part. It's great that you have some kind of faith that grounds you, but it's also a wisdom to realize how your faith may make other people shudder. Nonbelievers today aren't just nonbelievers in your religion, we are people who have given the entire matter of faith and religion a great deal of thought and consideration and debate and discussion, and we know the damage that religious views such as your own do cause to the world.

Your post showed a rather naive arrogance which also indicates a general lack of thought for the world at large.

Of course, you were I suppose only answering the open question in what I give you the benefit of the doubt was your honest answer, and you're entitled to do that. Others are equally entitled to vote it up or down. I'd say your post lacked any real meaning.

Your greatest 'pure pleasure' comes from sitting around thinking about how much a god loves you? That is kind of sad, and I'd bet that other people offered alot better answers. Apparently people felt that your response didn't rate very high.

You might be humbled enough by that vote to contemplate a bit on what it is you're missing, and on what it is that your particular faith and spirituality isn't bringing you.

There are way more christians on hubpages than otherwise has been my experience. This isn't persecution. It isn't even a discomfort "with God" as you suggest. It's a discomfort with the lack of meaningfulness and human understanding that your post exhibited.

Personally, I don't vote down every answer that has to do with God or faith. I have a firm belief in God myself so this would be rather hypocritical.

When I do vote down an answer that has to do with God it is only those that take an all or nothing, my way or none at all approach to the question. I have also voted up those answers that I felt had been wrongly hidden.

Faith is a very personal matter, I think that even non-believers have a grounding that keeps them striving to be better people. My basic philosophy is taken from Christ..... It is better to pray in the closet than on the street corners because where you pray is where you shall find your rewards. I think that it is this philosophy that most people are tapping into when they vote down answers that they see as being overzealous.

It's just a button on an online answer site. It means nothing.

And, born again, if you are equating this with the persecution of Jesus then you have real problems.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
