Why do some people think that it's ok to self promte themselves through other people's hubs?

Meh... Look, you're using a PUBLIC service to voice your opinions, don't be shocked when someone else does the same thing. You have complete control over which comments are approved on your Hubs, so just don't approve the ones you don't like. PS - Visit my hubs and rank them up!Haha... just kidding.

The way I see it, many people just want to be heard and some people will just comment for that person's followers will look at their words. It's simple enough, but it seems unkind to not really answer your question and direct you to somewhere else entirely. Though I haven't read the entire comment they posted, so I might not be reading it correctly.

I am pretty sure I know whom you are referring to, I have noticed them do similar things on a number of questions, and I agree it is quite annoying. Obviously nothing wrong with them responding to the question, but, although I can't really work it out as the replies always seem a bit odd, it does appear like they are trying to promote something as well, which doesn't seem to relate to the question. Maybe a note for HubPages staff: Maybe it's worth having the ability to flag question responses as well as actual questions and hubs etc...

If someone puts a link in a comment that is totally unrelated to the hub I deny the comment.

Some people think it's "just how things are done on the Internet". Some know it isn't OK and don't care. They do it anyway.

Some actually think you ought to just be fine with their posting whatever they want on the Hub you may have written with an aim toward producing high-quality information/writing, or that you may have written with the idea that your Hub may actually help someone (and sometimes in a meaningful way). Basically, they're oblivious to the concept of solid, meaningful, writing; or else they think anyone who isn't "takes things on the Internet too seriously" ("because, after all, the Internet is all about trying to get traffic for yourself"). Then, too, there the people with their agendas when it comes to wanting their own opinions heard and spread around.

That's another bunch who aren't interested in YOUR Hub - only their own agendas. Either way, delete the foolishness you don't want on your Hubs. These clowns don't care if they make your Hubs or HubPages look like a big "spam fest" or "link fest".(In fairness to some of them, some actually don't know any better.)It only really takes a few seconds to go down your list of comments, scan for any links, hate speech, profanity, etc. , and delete any/all of that stuff before dealing with the comments (both positive and negative) that add something to your Hub.

The way I see, it's an "every man for himself" kind of thing. Those people are "for themselves". I'm going to be "for myself" (my Hubs, my reputation, my earnings, etc. As well).

If you ask a question you don't have a lot of control over the answers that you get so as 'beebong' says sit back and chill out. The people who read your question will soon load him up with negatives and his reply will disappear. I have seen this message going around and it is obviously a 'copy and paste' and I feel that he is not conforming to TOS and will soon be brought into line!

As they say 'Rome was not built in a day.

The answer is really simple: advertising and back links make more web page visitors and more visitors means more money and prestige. And it also means admiration of a sort for your HUbs. Try to be more relaxed and chill out once in a while whats happened is not such a big problem at all.

Your the only one,of course I'm new here so really I haven't had that problem yet.

It happened to me a several weeks ago. My Hub's subject matter was pretty deep, but the dude was selling his information within my Hub. LOL.

He did not even comment on my Hub. That was disrespectful. LOL.

I believe I did delete it. I could be wrong though. I have way too many comment in all of my Hubs.It did tick me off briefly, but that was about it.

I forgot about it until I read your question. LOL. Take Care,N.E.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
