Because we don't have any laws that prohibit companies from taking advantage of holidays or holiday icons. This means that companies have free reign to use or distort war veterans, Uncle Sam, Santa Clause, the Easter Bunny or historical figures any way they wish. Put simply, the answer to your question is, because the companies CAN co-opt them.
Supply and demand is the answer. I never buy that junk they sell during holidays. If people would not buy it - no one would sell it or even show up on holidays.
Supply and demand - especially in times of bad economy as we have in the world these days.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
