For example, they can drive, talk on the cell phone, put on makeup, all at the same time (though perhaps not safely). And when it comes to taking care of their babies, women's multitasking abilities are phenomenal. Is this a God-given talent or just them rising to the occasion? It must be how brains are wired Women are the ones who primarily take care of babies/children - and if you can't multitask as a mother then you can't survive! It may be something that evolved or was naturally part of a woman's wiring. Men on the other hand needed to concentrate on one task - hunting/providing for the family/working hard.
This is just my theory! ... I am great at multi-tasking and it makes my husband crazy. He'll see me on the computer reading and writing while listening to music and keeping the children under control and say, "Aren't we going to eat dinner soon?" - But dinner is already cooking.
He still doesn't trust that I can get all of it done at the same time even though he's witnessed it every day. I'm trying to think back to when I was a girl and if I was good at multi-tasking back then.My life didn't really require it too much before children. As a teenager I worked at a pizza place and I moved between customers/taking orders, cash register, ringing phones, making pizzas, etc, with great ease.
When I had my first baby I had never changed a diaper in my life or mixed a bottle or any of that.(I didn't like to babysit like most of my friends). After I learned the basics I was good to go though and could mix a bottle while soothing the crying baby and cleaning up a mess, etc... As long as I know how to do each task well I can do them simulteaneously. So to answer your question - I think it's a bit of both - I think we're wired to be better at multi-tasking but it's partly rising to the occasion, too.

I think this is a broad generalization, and one that's probably not accurate Simply because women do all the unsafe things you listed while driving does not mean they multitask well. And men can be excellent fathers and can handle babies very well. The premise of your question is false, and frankly could be viewed as a little offensive.

Multitasking for men and women Generally, women can multitask better than women, Now my answer is generalising, not stating as truth for all men and women. It is a physicall reason. The point in the brain where the two lobes come together is different in the sexes.
Women have a thicker channel with more pathways travelling between the two. Therefor they can process information faster and work on more than one task at a time. Men have a thinner channel, but the pathways in the channel are wider than the female brain.
This means men are able to concentrate for longer periods of time on one task and do it better than what a woman probably could. I believe these are God given abilities that allow us to do what comes naturally and do it well.
1 And just wanted to provide this info. Eddie, while I can see why it seems like a stereotype or generalization that some may take in an offensive way - it shouldn't be because it's scientifically true. Just as if one says men are physically stronger than women.
On average this is a true statement. It is just how men are built. They have more muscle mass.
Some people think that if you don't say women and men are equal in all areas you're being sexist but I disagree. Men and women are different and there is no denying it. We are equal in importance but we each excel in different areas - yin and yang - a perfect match.
Here's the piece of the article I wanted to share:True or False: Women are better at multitasking, while men are better when concentrating on a single task from beginning to completion. True. Ruben Gur, PhD, and Raquel Gur, MD, PhD, at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, measured blood flow and activity in men's and women's brains, and they found repeatedly that women use more parts of their brains when given a wide variety of verbal and spatial tasks.
They believe that this may contribute to women's ability to focus on a number of different things at one time. enotalone.com/article/4893.html .

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
