Why is my cat pooping in the litter box but peeing by it?

Sudden avoidance of the litter box for urination often signals that your cat has a urinary tract infection or other health issue. He/she associates urinating in the box with pain, and so avoids the box. Please get him/her into the vet ASAP for a check-up and urinalysis.

Kat .

Thank you! Im going to call monday and see how much it will cost, this is new to me and I do thank you for your help. Shes just a baby 8 months I would say and I found her in my fathers dump truck with her brothers, I found her in april I think marinamae 2 months ago .

I am glad you are taking her in to be checked! If she hasn't seen the vet before, she needs her kitten shots, and really, it is time to get her spayed as well. So you can talk to them about that while you are there.

:)Now, if she is physically healthy, with no UTI or other problems, then it could be the change in litter, or the placement of the box, or for some reason she feels vulnerable when urinating in the box (she got cornered by another cat or dog or kid, for instance. ) There can be lots of possible reasons. But rule out the physical ones first, and if having two boxes in two different locations doesn't do it, post back here again, and we will try to help you figure it out.

The most important thing to remember is that there *is* a good reason, to her, even if we humans can't easily figure out what that reason is. :)Kat .

So far so good hun, she has not used they floor for a bathroom. But the vet said when I take her in a can get a paper from somewhere for them to help me get her spayed. So that would help me a lot right now since im in school and I won't have a job for a couple of months, my husband is the on working and we work together on everything thing as a family.

Thank you and I will let you know further info marinamae 2 months ago .

Please do! And what is your kitty's name? Katherine .

Her name is jasmine jeffries marinamae 2 months ago .

So far so good, since I put her own litter box down everything has been great.. thank you again for the help marinamae 2 months ago .

That's great news! Give Jasmine a hug from me. :) .

Because cats do what they want to do. Get another litter box and maybe he will use that one for urination.

Oh, and before our resident animal abuser comes in and tells you to get and use a shock collar, or the rub their nose in the urine - don't bother. Neither will work. Not saying you would EVER do this to your furkid, but using shock collars is abuse, and animals do not understand why they get their noses rubbed in anything.

I don't believe in either of those, I got to litter boxes now and im going to try that , if that doesn't work then im going to switch the cat litter, I love my cat, we found her and my fathers dump truck her and her brothers, they were just born, its crazy that they were in it because it was full to the top and we were cleaning it out and found them in the middle of everything, so I took them home. I got them healthy and I kept her, I named her jasmine and gave the others to good homes. She is about 8 months old, ive had her for 6 months I would say.

I know you love your furkid. You wouldn't ask questions about this if you didn't! .

Ditto Caseycat, please have him checked for a urinary infection. Rule out a medical reason. When did this start?

Have you changed litter brands? How often are you cleaning his box? How many cats do you have?

At the time I had one litter box, now today I have two. It just started about a week ago but its not an everyday thing.. I did change brand of litter bc I was lil low on cash, shes a baby and I found her a couple of months ago in my dads dump truck.. I clean the litter box everymoring before I go to my nursing class, thanks for the info I havent got a chance to take her to the vet yet, but im going to call them tomorrow and find out how much its going to cost to get her looked at. I only have 1 other cat and my parents have had her for years, shes 7 yrs old her name is gaby and we got her from a pet store where I live she was fix and declawed.. thank you very much for your help, this may help her marinamae 2 months ago .

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
