Okay I have only read the first paragraph and already I had to stop it there because I already know an answer. First of all, I really think your out of sync with yourself. Out of mind, body and soul.
You have chosen a direction of Political Science because its a general course that anybody can take. You are visualizing yourself as an underachiever. This kind of mind set will bring any Gauge to a high when the floater itself is stuck near empty in a tight corner.
I say take a break, find something to do in the meantime and orientate yourself. You are obviously flooded with ideas which will only impair your judgement and consequently your decisions. Find what you love to do.
Find what you have passion and build on that. When you have figured this out, even for starters, everything else will follow.
Okay, I'm a cut to the chase kind of person. And yes, sometimes I miss it (cutting too soon), but here goes. #1 You are an intelligent and bright person.
#2 You have the ability to write anything you are interested in (proof - the 3 para's above) (I'll bet it didn't take you a week to pound those out). #3 You are depressed; and, no we aren't all depressed. #4 Your inability to remember what you've read is tied to your depression.
#5 Your depression comes from you lack of focus. #6 Your lack of focus is the result of not having any goals that in your mind are worthwhile. #7 The reason your teachers spent extra time with you was, at least in part, because they saw promise/potential.
Oh my goodness, you may be all of 26 by the time you get your BS. That my dear is BS. At least it seems so to this person who got his under grad degree at age 30.
:) (Law school grad at 49.) Get off the drugs! At least for now. Go take a general aptitude test to gage your talents.
The results should provide a list of careers that are common for those with your gifts. Get ready; the ones that peak your interest may or may not require a college/univ degree. If possible home-in on one or two that lend themselves to training/prep that initially is common between them so you can get a feel of which one will receive your focus.
If a degree is required no college/univ I know of doesn't have its own general ed courses before they're willing to bless you with one of their degrees. And they ain't all going to be interesting. But once you get some meaningful goals in mind it will make the "plowing" more bearable.
If perchance you would like to discuss this or other matters with your new-found Solomon :) the address is [email protected]. Regardless - good luck, Ms. Bright.
:).
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
