I seriously doubt the thing is overheating. You may be expiring your router's cert however. Try turning off encryption and see if the router lasts longer.
If this is the case then you need to change your cert. Renewal policy.
If it runs at 2.4ghz, it might be interfering with other appliances (phone, microwave) that run on the same frequency. I had this problem and had to get a new phone so that the phone wouldn't /bump/ me off the internet.
I don't know what model SMC you are using, but a couple of them had lock up issues. They released updated firmware for them that was supposed to address that so you should try that first if you haven't done so yet.
I'm having a little bit of the same problem right now, it's freaky. I've got XP, the whole wireless router and cable modem thing going on, and my problem actually started about the same time I started using uTorrent heavily. The odd thing about it, and maybe I'm looking at something wrong, is that uTorrent maintains its connection while my desktop and my laptop both have a difficult time gaining/maintaining a connection.
I've also noticed that there are a few domains that I can still reach. Google and most other search engines give me a hard time, but after hitting "Try Again" a few times, I can get a select few other sites to come up. Eventually, everything does shut down, and I have to reset the router like you said. So, maybe torrents aren't the solution, but the problem.
I had this happen to me too, but it wasn't the router, it was the service. Once I switched from cable to dsl my problems ALMOST disappeared. I still have it occasionally (once every two months, but not every day like I did under cable.) Still, that was a while back when broadband was relatively new.
I think that I would borrow another router from someone. The things are really cheap these days.Is your broadband modem more than a few years old. Here, they will switch ours out for a combo modem/wireless router for free.
Wireless laptop connects to router, after awhile it suddenly knocks out the router. Have to restart router? How can you use a PS3 as a wireless router and use your laptop wireless if you do not want to buy a router?
Can I connect a wireless travel router to a standard non-wireless router? How to connect a USB modem to a wireless router? I have Linksys wireless-G broadband router but it has no USB slot on it?
How can I connect a wireless router to a wireless router without any wires?
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
