Why is the search engine in Askville for "add Amazon Products" different than the search engine in Amazon itself?

Many times I know there are books I have bought from Amazon that I want to add to my answers, but when I search for them by clicking on the "Amazon Product" widget in Askville I get all these weird results. If I open a new window and go to Amazon, type the same words and search there I get the exact book I was thinking of! Anyone else struggled with the product search add-ons in Askville?

Agreed! I use Amazon's search, then copy/paste the ASIN# or ISBN# into Widget's search.. I prefer Amazon’s search engine over the smaller "Widget search engine". It’s annoying how Widget’s search engine only shows like 10-15 results at a time.. then you have to click Next > Next > Next.. to find something you want!

ARGhh! So I open Amazon. Com in another browser.. find what I’m looking for EASILY using Amazon’s better search engine.. then I copy/paste the product’s ASIN# ..or.. a book’s ISBN# ..right into Widget’s search engine box and ..voila!

It’s there! (oh.. BTW.. when using ASIN#'s be sure to change to "All Products" so it'll find it..) Try it out.. ASIN: B0002U6KFW (is my favorite "Beam Me Up Scotty" bumper sticker) ISBN-10: 0156027321 (is the book "Life of Pi" by Yann Martel) Sources: imo.. Amazon's search >> Widget's search macmac's Recommendations Life of Pi Amazon List Price: $14.00 Used from: $1.94 Average Customer Rating: 4.0 out of 5 (based on 1702 reviews) Beam Me Up Scotty There's No Intelligent Life Down Here Bumper Sticker Average Customer Rating: 5.0 out of 5 (based on 1 reviews) .

1 I don't have an answer as to why it is like that, but I wanted to let you know that I have the same problem and I do the exact same thing you do to find the product I want to add to my answer :0) .

2 I agree, I don't know why it is different but it is! Maybe someone that knows more about this will shed some light...

3 I submitted feedback two months ago to have this feature improved. I can't answer though. This user has been banned from Askville.

I'd like to look for questions that match a "word" or "string of words.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
