Simple, they weren't necessary. The emperor had tried to surrender without " losing face ", but we wouldn't let him. We wanted it our way or not at all.
The emperor knew the war was over. Japan was running low on supplies & money. The US has already destroyed half the country.
Many people don't know we fire bombed 40 or 50 cities. Most of these cities had wood buildings, so they went up in smoke like dry weeds. Not to mention we had two new toys we just couldn't wait to try out.
The bad news is many thousands of people would die as a result of it. Had nothing to do with Pearl Harbor. That was a provoked attack.
Try going youtube and key in 'the bones of station H'...
The Japanese people were fanatical followers of their leader and if we had to send soldiers into mainland Japan to end the war, many more allies would have died, so we nuked them and that ended the war, so don't listen to all of these bleeding hearts, it is sad that most of them weren't even born when we fought Japan, but are quick to say the US was wrong, but just watch documentaries on how these idiots would blow themselves up just to kill our soldiers and you will agree that dropping the bombs were the right thing to do when we melted the sneaky scum bags. I am not talking about the current generation of Japanese, they are our great allies and good people.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
