BP has accepted responsibity and is paying for the clean up. However the American involvement in this rig and its operation must not go unnoticed,it was American built. I will bet the offshore drills will be operating again sooner than later.it's greed and need that will prevail because America does not like high fuel costs or the real cost of fuel.
I watched episode one of the BBC4 documentary "Crude Britania", which was about the history of oil exploration in the North Sea. The Americans played a huge role in supplying knowledge in the early days, they probably still do. They absolutely hated the locals, because the British refused to be worked like slaves.
They were gung-ho and had a total disregard for safety. If the attitude they had in the 1960's is still prevalent, then I'm pretty sure that it will have played a part in the disaster. The thing is that it's BP's rig and BP's job to make sure it is cleaned up.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
