If he or she ( as in the cop) is off duty and tried a citizens arrest then possibly the cop could be charged with abduction however in the course of police duties it's covered under the impression code, the person has to prove the person isn't responsible for the crime ( what you're describing happens a lot especially in a murder investigation) so don't worry about it hey however if the officer just arrests someone just for the fun of it he or she can be dismissed or disciplined and if a person is injured in a in conveyancing or in custody anywhere then the officer may be severely disciplined or dismissed for falsely arresting the victim.
