It could be a corrupted ntdlr since it is windows xp and it is a very common problem of the os try to repair your windows by a windows xp cd boot or simply get your hard drive to another windows xp computer make it a slave hdd then copy paste the entire hidden files of the another hdd.
Here's what worked for me: 1) Turn the PC off. 2) Turn off the power -- i.e. , unplug the thing or turn off the power strip.
3) Wait a minute. 4) Turn on power & PC. 5) Start tapping F8 once the cursor starts blinking.
6) Hit "Repair my computer." 7) Follow the instructions. Your desktop should appear. If not, repeat 1 thru 7, like I did.
I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
