Women - before you got pregnant were you on birth control pills? How long did it take to get pregnant after coming off?

I know it varies for everyone, but I just thought I would take a little poll.My husband and I are thinking of trying to have a child of our own sometime soon. He is worried about the birth control. He wants us to use condoms for a while after I come off of it because he wants it to be all out of my system.

He's heard stories from women that get pregnant while on birth control and it causes problems with the baby. Obviously, I will talk to my doctor more once we decide to try, but did any of you "play it safe" for a while after coming off of the birth control? Thanks!

No worries I talked to my doctor about that very same thing before trying to get pregnant after being on the pill for about five years. She said there is no truth those rumors that the hormones linger in your blood stream or any other system. It is safe to start trying right away.It took about three months to get pregnant with my first child after about five years on the pill.

It was less than a month (!) before I got pregnant the second time after less than a year on the pill.

2 years After stopping the pill, I got pregnant 7 months later, but had a miscarriage. Then, it was another year and a half before I got pregnant again. Now, I have a beautiful 4 month old little girl.

I personally believe it took a while for my system to adjust after being on the pill for so long, but I have no real evidence to support that claim. I can’t say that the pill is what caused the miscarriage, since it had been 7 months. It seems highly unlikely.

Anyways, that was my experience with it. I hope it helps.

5 months for us My doctor did ask me to use condoms for 3 months, and I did. Then it took 5 months to get pregnant. I think playing it safe, and using condoms, is a good idea.It costs nothing but a couple of months, and since you are planning to make a lifelong commitment to parenthood, a few months of delay are nothing.

(Though they can feel very long, I grant you. ) Good luck getting pregnant!.

Straight away Our first child was conceived two weeks after stopping the pill. Two years later, we stopped the pill but used other methods for two months and then got pregnant without hassle in the third month. Our third was conceived 9 months after our second child.BUT... there had been no periods at all apart from the post birth bleeding.

We only found out when our doctor did a precautionary pregnancy test, at the doctor's request, just to make sure since there was no regular cycle to speak of. Although after the birth of our children, we decided for more permanent methods of birth control and decided on tubal-ligation. After that, it took about a year after 18 years on birth control, to fall into a regular natural cycle..

I got pregnant 3 months after I stopped birth control... I have never heard that "left-over" birth control in your body can affect a baby. I have heard that it takes your body a while to get used to being off of birth control and it takes an average of 3 months for your cycle to return to normal. THAT SAID... obviously we had twins. No fertility drugs involved, and no fraternal twins run in the family (only fraternal are genetic - identical are just by chance).

Since I first found out we were having twins, I have done some reading about what causes twins. There are a FEW small studies suggesting that if you are on the pill for a while (I was for almost 10 years) and then get pregnant relatively quickly after stopping the pill (I got pregnant after just 3 months) that you're more likely to end up with twins. Something about your body sort of going into overdrive and producing two eggs.

SO... just keep that in mind! Also, you didn't ask, but I highly recommend using your basal body temperature (taken every morning at the same time) and a chart to track your ovulation. That's what helped us get pregnant so quickly!

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
