While it's theoretically possible that your pet GSD would have the temperament required & therefore the confidence to engage a human who posed a real threat, in practice it is highly unlikely. The majority of pet dogs look to their human pack to protect them from threats outside the pack & not the other way around. When faced with a threat your dogs, in common with my pet Dobermanns, would protect their own behinds by instinctively taking flight to avoid a fight, freeze or bark defensively {often mistaken as protective behavior when it's fear based}.
Your GSD will be an effective visual deterrent & should make good watch dogs by barking an alarm when someone approaches your property. More.
I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
