Would my german shepard dogs protect me if my life was in danger .even though they are pets?

While it's theoretically possible that your pet GSD would have the temperament required & therefore the confidence to engage a human who posed a real threat, in practice it is highly unlikely. The majority of pet dogs look to their human pack to protect them from threats outside the pack & not the other way around. When faced with a threat your dogs, in common with my pet Dobermanns, would protect their own behinds by instinctively taking flight to avoid a fight, freeze or bark defensively {often mistaken as protective behavior when it's fear based}.

Your GSD will be an effective visual deterrent & should make good watch dogs by barking an alarm when someone approaches your property. More.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
