Would you like to explore your family tree to learn about who you are and where you came from?

Not really. I feel that who I am and what I am is the result of my own upbringing and choices. I don't really care what my ancestors are up to because I don't feel any connection with them.My father prided that one of our ancestors was a Chinese national hero.

My thought is, who cares? It's not like I know him personallly. We also don't benefit anything being associated with him.

Our family is rather detached from our extended family compared to many Chinese families. I also have a very "Western" philosophical concept in which I think that what matter most is our current lives and the choices we make, not where we come from.

I wouldn't mind digging into it a bit. Many younger people could probably care less about their culture or background, but I think as you get older, you become more aware of who you are and where you came from. My dad's side of the family came from England and I'm sure that would be difficult to research, even though that would probably be the most interesting.

I can go back on my ancestry more on my mom's side because more records were kept and I have most of those.

It might be interesting but it is not actually a burning desire.

I would love to have more knowledge of my ancestry. Unfortunately, I have not gotten very far, as further investigation would require money....which is in short supply for us at the moment. I know that my family is from County Cork Ireland, and that my ancestors immigrated to the US during the famine in the mid 1800's.

That's about it. But I'm hoping to one day visit Ireland and actually be able to find out a bit more......

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
