I have done some experiments! Is it against the rules to ask a question without logging in when you have an Askville account? I don’t think it is.

I posted a question when I logged in. Lin also posted a question in the same fashion and none of us got punished for doing so! So, I presume there is no punishment whatsoever for posting questions when you are not logged in.

How can they track that? I did some experiments to answer this question. It seems after I posted a question and a lot of people complained about this new change they have finally done something about it.

Previously I was able to post more than one question when I logged off and from the same PC. Now that I tried to post a question it asks me to create an account first and then post a question. I changed my PC and logged in with this screen name.

Then logged off and tried to post a question. Again it didn’t let me do that. Also when I tried to post a question from another PC and with the same email address as I had given to them for posting the other question it didn’t let me do that.My conclusion is that they don’t let any person to post more than one question from a specific IP address.

Also they do not let any IP address associated to a real account post a question without logging in. I have done a few experiments about that and I am fairly confident that is what happens but still they seem to change it. I am planning to do more experiments but I just need more IP addresses!

Here is two questions that Lin and I asked to do some experiment! "Did you know people can now ask questions WITHOUT creating an account and with only inserting their email addresses?! " "Did you notice that Paradise.

T was able to post a question without signing in? Well, I'm doing that, too..." Paradise. T's Recommendations There are no stupid questions only inquisitive idiots Mug .

1 Okay, this is my question (I don't want Askville or any of you folks thinking I'm trying to pull one over on you), so if you answer this question, I won't be voting on it, you will be at the mercy of the others that answer it and your appeal option. But I did this because I wanted to see, if I could ask a question without an account and then answer it, if I wanted through my Askville account. Guess what?

I can. I didn't, because that would be dishonest. However, this means that if someone wanted to rack up points in a certain topic, they could post an endless number of questions as a variety of newbies and pick the topic that they want points in.

Then they could log into their Askville account and answer the questions (even use the coin multiplier option, if they were going for coins). Granted they'd still need to give good answers so that other answerers would vote them well, because they couldn't vote for themselves, but how would Askville track this? Their wouldn't be a pattern like there would be with a person using two Askville accounts (bob always asking questions and sally always answering them).

All that they would see is that Sally answers a lot of question from Newbies that never return (BTW, I didn't even need to give a real email address, they never verify to see if it is an authentic email address) and with so many newbie questions with 1 coin (take a look at the newbie profiles), how would they know that they weren't real questions by real newbies, wanting real answers from real people. AND how bad would abuse like this get if Askville offers gift cards again for points? .

2 FYI, I just reported my 'newbie' profile for abuse, so they could delete it, no need to clutter the Askville data banks.....Here's a copy of my report:"You can delete this profile, because it was me posting a question to see how this works without an account. Just wanted to let you know :0)" .

3 There have been a few people to point this out. It's one of the reasons many of us are so upset with Askville right now. They keep muddying up the joint before cleaning up old messes and aren't communicating about anything.

4 yep, marissa, this new "feature" opens up a big can of worms.

Have you purchased more things from Amazon because of Askville?......

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
