Socialism is a political ideology and movement which has proposed a set of social and economic measures, policies and systems characterized by social ownership and democratic control of the means of production. Social ownership may refer to public ownership, cooperative ownership, citizen ownership of equity, or any combination of these. Although there are many varieties of socialism and there is no single definition encapsulating all of them, social ownership is the common element shared by its various forms https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socialism So no, Obama has not put forth a single policy in his 7 years in office that would qualify as socialist.
The closest would be when he forced the automakers to swap ownership for a bailout, but the government never ran the companies, nor did they retain the ownership long term, having divested themselves of the stake. Other investments, like in Solyndra, were long standing government programs that were not started under Obama, and were loan guarantees, not control of the means of production. Obamacare is also not socialism, since it forced people into regulated private insurance plans.
He is mildly progressive in his policies to date, probably much less progressive than he would have liked to have been, but he is not a socialist.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
