The Rock didn't start putting Cena over until right before the WM match. Up to then he did everything he could to bash Cena, Cena's fans, make a mockery of the WWE's (and Vince's) choice to lead the company, and appeared to not take the match or Cena's challenge seriously at all. While Cena didn't NEED The Rock to build him up as a credible opponent, The Rock did everything he could to make Cena seem to be a pile steamy pile of crap.
For nearly a year I criticized the hell out of The Rock for that; I got a whole lot of thumbs down from Rock fanboys, too, and had most users here believing that I hate The Rock. You don't tear down your opponent before you get him in the ring. If you do, and you beat him, then you beat a nobody.
If you tear him down, and he beats YOU, you got beat by a nobody. The Rock knows better than that as well as anybody. He spent nearly a year doing that while Cena did everything HE could to put The Rock over as a credible challenger, to get The Rock back over to the "millions" who had written him off as a self-centered prima donna ac-tore who considered himself above the wrestling business.
Cena got in his fair share of shots on The Rock but Cena never tore The Rock down. But the last couple of weeks before WM saw The Rock drop the puffed-up "Hollywood Rock" crap and be The Rock we remember from years ago. He started taking the match and John Cena seriously, and he began talking of Cena as the most credible opponent he could have ("I need to beat John Cena to be the greatest of all-time"; that was The Rock acknowledging that Cena IS the top dog in the wrestling business).
During the match The Rock sold Cena's strength and power moves (as did Cena selling for The Rock). Cena lost the match because he lost focus and decided to mock The Rock's finisher. The Rock took advantage of that and beat him.
Up to that point the match was very even between two very evenly-matched opponents. After the match, on RAW, The Rock finally put Cena over without making fun of him or tearing him down. He acknowledged that Cena lives up to his hype and it was definitely no cake-walk to beat him.
The Rock had to work his @ss off for that win and he admitted it. "Putting over" does NOT just mean losing the match. It means to make your opponent look awesome, in the ring, on the mic, and in your attitude about him.
The Rock didn't do that until right before WM and the next night on RAW.
Agree. While I'm so content about The Rock winning and thinks he's the right man to win, he didn't put over Cena here. Putting over is making someone look good or better.
All The Rock did in this whole feud is burying John Cena. From the day he returned, The Rock had always buried Cena, saying bad things about him. The Rock saying Cena having no talent, etc, etc. This really made Cena look weak.
And now at Wrestlemania 28, The Rock after 8 year hiatus (from one on one match) can still beat John Cena clean. This is something which Triple H, Shawn Michaels, and Batista unable to do (at WM 22, 23, and 24). This makes The Rock is better than all of them, since not even 8 year hiatus be a factor to beat Cena.
And what buried Cena more, the fact The Rock can now claim that everything he said about Cena is indeed true, since he beat Cena fair and square. And I really thought The Rock would finally show and find his respect to Cena and hug together to end WM 28. But, in the end, it was The Rock just posing to the crowds to end WM 28.
So far, The Rock didn't put over John Cena, instead burying him. But, I don't know if this angle still continues though which will end when The Rock finally shows respect to Cena.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
