Are washer and dryers with Steam the coming thing or a passing phase? (i.e. whirlpool duet steam, LG steam)?

(i.e. Whirlpool duet steam, LG steam) Last year LG brand introduced washers with steam (claims to better remove stains) and dryers with steam (claims to cut need for ironing). They topped the consumer reports charts.

This year, Whirlpool and Kenmore Elite have introduced similar features and are now also at the top of consumer reports. But they are PRICEY.So the question is--- is it worth the cost because it is the coming thing or is it a passing phase? Depends on whether you need the features. I have talked to people who own these steam washers and dryers. They say that for the most part they do live up to their claims.

The stain removal is slightly better than a normal washer, but not a miracle worker. The dryer with steam that claims less wrinkles does live up to its claims. In my case, I don't get alot of stains on my clothes, and I don't wear alot of dress clothes that need wrinkles removed, so the steam feature wasn't worth the money for me.

If you will use these features often, then it might be worth it for you. If you're only considering buying those features because they're the next big thing, then you probably don't "need" those features, and could better spend your money elsewhere. I would definitely suggest getting the front load washer and dryer set, their energy and water usage are far lower than standard top load models.

Consider the fact that if this is the trend towards the future, that the price for the extra features will likely come down significantly before your next washer and dryer purchase, so only pay the extra money now if you need it. Sources: my opinion .

Coming Thing Coworkers and I were discussing this at work and that was my first time hearing about them. I believe its worth it, especially if you are always running to the cleaners like me. You can save money.

They used to sell those dry cleaning bags, where you just toss some clothes in this special bag and then toss it in the dryer for a while and it was suppose to keep your clothes clean and wrinkle free. So these new dryers and washers are a coming thing.

3 Melissa, we just bought the Whirlpool Duet (without steam) because the high price of the steam machine turned us off. Got these in early December and love them so far. I thought the steam would help with wrinkles in my husband's work shirts, but couldn't justify paying the price.

4 Gary-- I hadn't thought about the effect on fabrics. It would be annoying to spend a fortune on a machine that is great for your clothes in every way except that it ruins them. (!)Do you have experience with steam or are you theorizing?

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
