Are you as confused as I am about the Bible and religion altogether?

I've been to several churches over the years and it seems that there are different interpretations of what the Bible has to say. I just kinda go with the flow nowadays......but isn't that what faith is, going with the flow and trusting that what the preacher man says is the true meaning of what the Bible actually means? Whooo, see what I mean?

I am no longer confused but I do understand your dilemma. At the age of seventeen I was also confused until I had a spiritual experience that took a way all my doubts in God and the Bible. As a result, I became a Christian and began to believe in God with all my heart and mind.

Prior to this experience at seventeen, I did NOT believe in God and had no intentions of ever doing so. To be honest, I saw all organized religion as controlling, restrictive, and phony. Out of respect I had for a Christian friend and also a curiosity to see if religion could make my life better, I accepted a challenge to read the scriptures and then pray to know, if there really was a God or not.

I did not expect to get an answer, but did read with an open mind and began to pray to this imaginary person they called God. Long story short, I received an answer that was so clear and absolute that it forever erased from my mind any doubt in God and the Bible. So which church do I then join?

The Bible states there is, “One Lord, one faith, one baptism. (Ephesians. 4:5) It also states in Ephesians.4:11-14:“And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive.”I joined a church that believes in continued revelation from God, and has current living prophets and apostles that lead Christ’s church today.

I no longer feel like a child, being tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine. In the true Church of Jesus Christ, ALL gospel truths are taught with clarity. This does not mean that this Church has a monopoly on faith and doctrine.

For this reason, people of other faiths can enjoy feelings of love and have faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as well. In return, they can likewise feel God’s love and spirit confirming to them that He is Divine. These other churches just do not contain the “fullness” of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Imagine having a large cup in front of you and placing within it spoon fulls of water for each “true” doctrine you believe in. The more of Gods “true” doctrine you learn about and believe in, the fuller the cup gets. Many of the beliefs and doctrines of the Church I joined, are also shared by other Christine faiths as well.

Each doctrine filling our own cups in front of us. Because a persons cup of faith is not as full as another’s, does not mean that what they do have in their cup is false. Since only “truth” can add to the cup, “true” doctrine taught by any faith will add spoon full’s to their spiritual cup.

The advantage to being a member of the true Church of Jesus Christ, is to receive ALL the truths needed to fill your cup and have “the fulness of Christ,” spoken of in Ephesians 4:13. I know many good Christians who currently attend other churches. They have great faith in and love the Lord Jesus Christ.

They attend church weekly, read from the Bible and feel confident that their choice of faith will save them. Do I feel they will be damned for not joining the Church I joined? Absolutely not.

God will Judge them and I truly hope they all make it to heaven as well. But having your “spiritual cup” completely full is a very satisfying feeling, and understanding God’s full plan has remove all confusion from my life. Sources: The Holy Bible .

Believe not every spirit, but try the spirits if they be of God" 1 John 4 it says: "Dearly beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits if they be of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. " One must not believe blindly, for it is dangerous and one can easily be led astray by false teachers then. Faith must come hand in hand with reason, which God has given us.

One must read the Bible with a heart open to the Truth within, and within the light of the Church, for the Church is the "pillar and ground of the Truth" (1 Tim 3:15). If one does not follow the Church, then one will not find the Truth, who is Jesus, "the Way, the Truth, and the Life" (John 14:6). It doesn't have to be complex... Religion doesn't have to be complex. No, it is not just about "going along", but finding something which resonates within you, gives comfort when you are in doubt, and points you in the right direction when you are uncertain. Otherwise the Bible is just a bookIf you were not brought up in any particular tradition, I urge you to investigate *all* of them.

Find what works for you. Remember though, the point is to make yourself a better individual, to improve your community, and (as Google famously put it) "Don't Be Evil. "Peace, and I wish you well.

No, not at all. I recognize the bible for the fiction that it is, loosely based upon the history of the jewish people and an alleged messiah. And I recognize religion for what it is, a money making institution to separate the people from their money and maintain the status quo for the people in charge.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
