Best homemade Halloween costumes for kids?

Last year my wife and I sewed a "Little Sunshine" costume for our then 3-month old little girl. She had a sun on her front and back held on with ribbon and a little hat. We traced around our kitchen plates to make the circles for the sun.

A yellow pacifier and yellow socks completed the ensemble.

I once made a star Halloween costume for one of my children and it looked fantastic. I used large pieces of card board rolled into cones and strategically connected them so he was a four year old, full sized star, each part of him and the costume was covered in gold. I was so proud until my child's teacher approached me after school and said how wonderful the costume was but next time I make one, could I make one that enabled my child to sit down.
