Bible: Original Hebrew Word For "Repent"?

Repentance is an acknowledgment of wrongdoing and an active change from the former mindset that produced the wrong, to a Godly mindedness that sees and corrects the wrong. Christianity has this due to the commandment from the Lord Jesus that we are to have love 'one for another'. When we don't do this, we are in the wrong and need to make it right in order to remain in one accord or in the oneness of the indwelling Spirit of Christ.

Perhaps this answers the question. Following is a treatise on the meaning of repentance. In the Holy Bible in the Book of Mark - Jesus begins His ministry by saying "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; REPENT, and believe the Good Message."

So then the Christian experience begins with this action of repentance. Without this there is no experience 'in Christ'. So obviously repentance is a key part of the operation of God.

Since all mankind is born 'dead in trespasses and sins' and is under the curse of the 'unconverted man', there is present in mankind, only the carnal mind or the spirit of the 'natural man'. That is - only until repentance. So what is the repentance phenomenon?

It's a gift from God as only He is able to lead into repentance. It is also a transformation and transportation into God's own dimension. Repentance involves seeing the reality of the state of mankind, and recognizing the depth of depravity we are all in.

Once cognizant, we are then able to see (through faith by grace) the unfathomable distance between mankind and the Lord Jesus. The Christian needs to have repentance in order to effect Godly changes that transport from the earthly and carnal realm of man to the heavenly Godly realm of the Spirit of Christ. Envision a caterpillar (earthly insect) emerging into a butterfly (beautiful creature in flight) and transpose this vision into the carnal being emerging from the earthly sinful state of corruption, stuck in lusts and pride of society.

Picture the ugliness, the arrogance, of this offensive and rebellious carnal nature being transformed and transported into God's dimension of righteousness, mercy, agape love, compassion, kindness, spirit of power and sound mind, humility and boldness. The Christian must experience this phenomenon to be 'in Christ'. Without repentance, one remains 'as is'.

Corrupt and condemned. Only by partaking of the Spirit of Christ, in the form of the gift of a new spirit from Jesus, is it possible to make the metamorphosis that is 'repentance'.

Ok, first to answer the last part. Different religions have different philosphies for different reasons. Many different reasons.

A major part of Christianity is to ask God, Jesus, for forgiveness. In other words, to repent. To repent is to ask for forgiveness for all the sins you may have done.

It also means that you give up old beliefs, or the lack of, and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. Without the act of repentence it is believed one cannot enter Heaven when they die.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
