Can I freeze dry cat food to keep it fresh?

My cat seems to be very picky about the freshness of her food. When I open a new bag, she's super excited about it. But she has a small appetite and doesn't go thru the bag very quickly.

As time goes by, even though I keep the bag sealed, it gets stale and she eats it only grudgingly. I'm trying to help her gain weight, so I want to figure out a way to keep the food fresh and tasty for her. What is causing it to get stale?

If I kept it in the freezer would that help? Is there a way to vaccuum-seal the container? Any other suggestions?

Introduce wet food. Wet food is much fresher since you're going can by can. Also, there's the added benefit of more water for the kitties.

I've never had this problem, but I would recommend vaccum sealing. Freezing could cause moister to trap in, and the food would be WORSE when you thaw it. Portion out the food and vaccum seal.

Personally, I use a main dry kibbel food and each of my two cats gets about a half can of wet each day. I can mix pumpkin into the wet food if they need the fiber, and it keeps variety since I can change the cans around. That way, they won't get tired of the kibble.

I keep my kibble in a bag, with a chip clip, in it's own cabinet. Also, feed her a good food. Store brands that get all the advertising, such as Meow Mix and Purina have a bunch of crud in it.

When I switched to grain free/by-product free/gluten free foods, my older cat stopped throwing up randomly, evened out his weight, and stopped hoarding food since the new food was actually filling him up! Www.beforegrain. Com naturesvariety.com good brands, there.

You can absolutely freeze cat food. Your food is getting stale because it is coming in contact with air. Just like your cereal, crackers, cookies, and chips get stale when they have been open for a while.

Imagine if your food was opened and closed everyday for a month. My cat Milo is very picky too. I use to buy the smallest bag possible and then divide it into small containers that hold a weeks worth of food at a time.

Make sure you use air tight containers to keep moisture out. I used Lock and Lock these containers are great for all kinds of things. Now I use a Zevor food dispenser.

You pour the food in, and it is air tight so food stays fresh. Sources: Google images. *Carla*'s Recommendations Lock & Lock Storage Round 6 Piece Stoarge Set Amazon List Price: $9.99 Average Customer Rating: 4.5 out of 5 (based on 3 reviews) .

Banana Seal for pet food. You can keep your pet food in the bag it comes in, which most manufacturers recommend and seal it air tight. Banana Seal has small seals for your kitchen so make sure you get the pet food size.It is easy to use, reusable, freezer and dishwasher safe.

It comes in two sizes. I found the smaller ones at Target.Com but I had to go to my local pet store to get the longer size.

Have you tried folding it over & putting a bag clip on it just suggestion. Good Luck. Sources: My 2 cents .
