Can you connect your 4G phone to your television to watch shows?

Yes you can stream video from your phone directly to your TV. Depending on which 4G phone you own, there are different accessories that allow you to do this. Some phones, such as the HTC Evo 4G comes with a HDMI cable port on the phone.

You can plug in your MicroHDMI cable to your phone and connect it to your TV. Other phones, such as the Motorola Atrix, has a dock which you can then connect to your TV. If you own a Samsung Epic 4G, you can currently connect the phone to your TV through the USB cable.

However, what this does is that the TV reads the contents of your memory card. Hence, you will not be able to stream programs to your TV. If you are looking to stream video from your phone to your TV to watch programs off Hulu or Netflix, then you will have to consider your monthly data service limits.
