Do these online security companies annoy you also with their blatant marketing of their services?

That doesn't sound like a legit advertising. Note down the title of recommended antivirus or the name of detected viruses. I suspect you've got an infection that tries to scare you into purchasing some fake and useless crap.

Use some kind of online virus scanner like ESET NOD 32 or Bit Defender to check your system. Chances are the infection will be removed.

Depends on which company, from the sounds of it you do have spyware/adware. Both of which will cause popups that try and sell fake antivirus, and other softwares. Its a scam, so don't fall for it thats for sure.

But I could be wrong but thats how it sounds to me.

If you are getting windows popup messages though and not internet popups then you are getting IP probed and you need to block your ports on your computer or router. Some people IP probe where they randomly throw out IP addresses and send those messages trying to sell fake security software just like that. Dunno if they still do that... but it used to be something you had to watch.

Thanks everyone. I try to full scan my laptop once a week, and just after I asked this question, I had to reset my computer to an earlier time. That solved the pop-up problem and now I am extremely careful and am using Microsoft freeware (Security Essentials).

But thanks again for your concern!

I don't have that problem. I don't get any pop ups ever... except a small window sometimes telling me tracking cookies have been detected and removed... it goes away on its own.

I have active Norton 360 (anti everything) running in my computer.

If you knew as much about computers as I do you would realize how very unsafe you are online. Use common sense and spend a bit on anti virus software.

It sounds like your computer has no anti-virus and the windows program is warning you or you are already infected with a virus or trojan that is trying to sell you something.

I suggest you finally purchase some anti virus software. Registry cleaners are mostly a scam. Windows 7 comes with a registry cleaner.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
