Do you think parents in america need to understand the cultural differences in Japanese Animation?

Japanese Animation or Anime can have s xual references or n dity but people need to understand that in Japan this is no big deal for children,but actual s x would not be good or appropiate for children. I also think that American parents are too overprotective of children thinking that a little n dity is gonna hurt a kid. Protecting kids is the reason you have Adolescents having s x and getting pr gnant.

Japan has the lowest teen pr gnancy in the world I read it on wikipedia this explains why JApanese animation doesn't need censoring like in America.Americans shows and movies have ratings and the parents television council think that every show on tv should be for Adults and not children even movies and they criticize todays music. In Japan some Anime may have p rverts and old men who are obsessed with women but it can also be action/adventure like Inuyasha dragonball Z bleach. Whats appropiate in Japan obviously to some parents should be for Adults in u.s.

I agree... Americans generally have a twisted and unhealthy view of nudity and expecially its association with sex An artist friend of mine who does a lot of nudes (paintings with nude women in them) had an arist statement crudely written on the inside studio door frame and I read it just the other day. It said, "I don't paint paintings about sex. Nudity is not about sex -- it has nothing to do with sex."

I thought about that for awhile and really when someone looks at a nude person and thinks "sex" it is a Pavlov's dogs sort of situation. They are feeling the anticipation of sex because, as a man, anytime I have seen a nude woman the sight was shortly followed by sex. It is a trained response.

The two don't necessarily go together. Just ask anyone who frequents nudist colonies... there is no sex and and the children are mixed in with the adults in their "natural state" and I would guess (cause I am not a nudist) that you quickly lose the association with sex... you become "untrained". In the USA we have some really unhealthy Victorian ideals when it comes to nudity and we tend to closely associate it with sex.

Japanese attitudes towards sex and nudity are much healthier than that of the USA for sure. I grew up in Japan by the way... from age 6 to 12. Lived off base with the Japanese.My bedroom had soji screens around it and tatami mat on the floor and I slept on futons.

Not these bed-like things the Americans call "Futons" but he real thing.

2 I wouldn't blame teen pregnancy necessarily on the fact that Americans try to censor their t.v. I would put more of the blame squarely on the fact that there are a lot of families where both parents are working trying to put food on the table and a roof over the children's heads. It is becoming harder and harder for a household to have a single bread-winner.

Meanwhile, the children are free at home to explore drugs, sex, whatever else there is to do at that age...Censoring t.v. Is just an additional tool used by over-burdened parents to try to protect their children from the "evils" of the outside world.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
