Of course. It's just human nature, and the competitive spirit in us. There are worse things to do with our time!

LOL! I think alot of us really put time and effort into answering; our words, after all, really are a part of us and our personality, and thus when a situation comes up, we get upset, as it's hard not to take it at least somewhat personally. It's not always the coins as much as our pride, our intellect, and our beliefs that are effected.

Affected? .

Probably I suppose that no matter what we're talking about, whether it be Askville or a bowling league, someone takes it too seriously. I tend to be a sensitive individual. That means that I am mostly empathic and compassionate when dealing with people - and in answering questions on here.It also means, that I am hurt more easily than some.

I always remind myself that online, I don't have to allow myself to be hurt or angry or any other negative emotion. We don't have to give people, or more exactly the comments that people make, any kind of power and control over our emotions if we don't want to. This is, however, a lot of fun for me and there are so many awesome, intelligent, witty people on here that it brings me satisfaction.

Should that stop being the case, I will stop participating. This is a true community and it brings with it all of the things that any community brings - a sense of belonging, well-being, satisfaction. But it also can bring annoyance, criticism, disappointment.

It is when the negative outweighs the positive that it is time to rethink our approach and then our purpose. If it is important enough, we make changes in our behavior and/or our outlook. If it is not, then we move on.

Perhaps I got a little too philosophical here and I could have answered with just a simple "yes, I do think that some take this too seriously" but that truly isn't what I mean to say. I think that some people take this more seriously than I do, but only we can judge what is "too serious" for ourselves. We have a good mix of people on here and a wonderful array of personalities.

I like it just the way it is. Some people thrive on more drama than others. This is a good question.

Thanks for allowing me to think through this. :) Sources: my head sweets's Recommendations The Situation Is Hopeless, but Not Serious (The Pursuit of Unhappiness) Amazon List Price: $14.95 Used from: $4.40 Average Customer Rating: 4.5 out of 5 (based on 7 reviews) Serious Laughter: Live a Happier, Healthier, More Productive Life Amazon List Price: $16.95 Used from: $12.65 Average Customer Rating: 4.5 out of 5 (based on 10 reviews) Paradise Spa Bath & Body Gift Basket with Relaxing Music CD Just Relax - Relaxing to Sleep CD: Guided meditation for sleep; sound therapy for relaxation and healing; stress relief music track. Yes But it happen about everything. I know that at times I have probably taken it too seriously. It's good to sit back and consider that it is really a game and a way to help others find out things that interest them while asking questions concerning the things that interest us.

Your point in the details would make an interesting study for a masters or Ph.D. Student in Psychology or Sociology concerning the thrill of a perceived reward even though, as far as we know, the reward is worthless. It Should Be Taken Seriously! To be honest, I think most users on Askville are tired of silly questions. Askville is a tool for users that wish to have their questions answered.

We are a research tool, not a game or activity. Hope this helps...

Of course I know that some people here do take this site seriously because there is no place else for someone to ask a question or want some feedback on a particular situation in their life. I didn't know this site was for fun and games.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
