Good, Inexpensive wide-angle lens for Digital Rebel?

I recently went to Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon and was a bit dissappointed that my 28mm (x1.6) lens wasn't quite wide enough to get a "dramatic" effect for landscapes...are there any quality wide-angle lenses available for about $300 or less?Thanks...mb Asked by mbragg13 53 months ago Similar questions: Inexpensive wide angle lens Digital Rebel Arts > Photography.

Depends how wide... I'm sure you can get some lenses that get to 18mm or so for a reasonable price. For true wide-angle photography, you would want to consider something like 10-12mm, though. It's not quite within your price range (it's $467 at Amazon) but it's still inexpensive compared to the camera manufacturer's equivalents -- Sigma makes a 10-20mm lens that has been very well reviewed. At 10mm, you'll be able to get some *very* wide angle shots... and should have the drama you're looking for.

But, perhaps not the wide angle feel of something like a fisheye lens. Consider whether you want the image to appear to warp at the edges or not in that decision. Doctorkb's Recommendations Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC HSM Lens for Canon Digital SLR Cameras Amazon List Price: $679.99 Used from: $1,234.27 Average Customer Rating: 5.0 out of 5 (based on 15 reviews) .

Two options that fit... Two that don't Meets the price limit: * The cheapest is the Kit Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 USM... (with the 1.6x it's a 28. 8-88mm) probably $50-100 on eBay or $150 from Amazon * The next is the Tamron Autofocus 17-35mm f/2.8-4 DI LD Super Wide Angle Zoom Lens for Canon... at Amazon it's direct price is $480, but it sells for $290-$300 from their partners. This is probably the best answer for quality and wide for the Rebel at 1.6x it's 27.2mm (close to what you were used to with your 28mm on a film camera) - 56mm (close to your old 'normal' lens)... The max aperture is pretty nice to (Also see the sample photos here).

It also got a very good rating at FM Reviews. Meets the dramatic effect requirement, but not the price: * Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM is around $680 on Amazon, but it's conversion is 16mm to 35.2mm, it's about as wide as you can go without getting major distortion (which is the amazing thing about this particular lens that it has very little distortion compared to other lenses in its class). * If you just want D-R-A-M-A-T-I-C photos and don't care about distorsion then you may want to consider the Tokina 10mm - 17mm F/3.5-4.5 DX Autofocus Fisheye Zoom Lens for Canon EOS it's about $500 on Amazon, it gives you 180 degree (left-right) fisheye view at the 10mm setting on 1.6x crop cameras, and can zoom into a pretty regular wide photo.

Average Customer Rating: 5.0 out of 5 (based on 1 reviews) Ignore those high list prices, click on the links for real prices. I think the Tamron 17-35 answers the question the best.

The 18-55 is a capable lens (although it only collects dust in my closet). The 10-22 is amazing for what it does, as well at the 8-55, but the prices really are limiting for these two.

I recommend a Tokina 12-24mm F/4 lens Wide angle lens usually is expensive. The Tokina 12-24mm F/4 lens is a very good lens with reasonable price. If you like to take wide angle pictures, you should try this one.

You can buy used at around $400 and new one costs almost $500. Steed's Recommendations Tokina 12-24mm f/4 AT-X Pro DX AF Wide Angle Lens for Nikon Digital Cameras Amazon List Price: $8912-240 Average Customer Rating: 4.5 out of 5 (based on 8 reviews) .

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
