Is there a wide angle converter lens that will fit the Rebel XTi basic lens? (58mm)?

I think you'll be disappointed with a converter. In my opinion, one of the major benefits of buying an SLR/dSLR is that you can change lenses and not have to add image-quality reducing adapters. While there are 58mm threaded wide-angle converters available, none are meant for a SLR.

Some may allow autofocus to work, but you may need to manually focus. Your kit lens is 18mm at the widest. However, given the 1.6x crop factor, you really have a 28.8 mm lens, which while wide, isn’t very wide.

How wide angle do you need to go? Here’s a website that compares different focal lengths on a 1.6x crop camera like your XTi: ttv.paksut.net/photo/WideComparison/ This compares 8mm fish-eye (VERY wide angle) to 100mm. This includes both 10mm and 12mm lengths, which are important, as they are starting focal lengths for many different super-wide zoom lenses.

Here’s a general review of several super-wide soom lenses. bobatkins.com/photography/reviews/wide-a... Canon makes a 10-22mm zoom super-wide angle lens. I own this lens, and it is phenominal!10mm is very wide, so wide that I constantly have to worry about getting my feet in the shot, especially when in portrait orientation (camera held vertically).

Here are several reviews of the 10-22mm lens: luminous-landscape.com/reviews/lenses/Ca... http://www.bobatkins.com/photography/reviews/ef-s_10-22_review.html http://www.fredmiranda.com/reviews/showproduct.php?product=221&sort=7&cat=27&page=2 http://www.photozone.de/8Reviews/lenses/canon_1022_3545/index.htm Sigma makes a 10-20mm lens. Here are some reviews about that: http://www.fredmiranda.com/reviews/showproduct.php?product=298&sort=7&cat=37&page=1 http://www.photozone.de/8Reviews/lenses/sigma_1020_456/index.htm Sigma also makes a 12-24mm lens: http://www.fredmiranda.com/reviews/showproduct.php?product=184&sort=7&cat=37&page=1 ttv.paksut.net/photo/WideComparison/0 Tokina makes a 12-24mm lens that is a a constant f/4. Not only is this the least expensive super-wide zoom lens, this lens also gets decent reviews: ttv.paksut.net/photo/WideComparison/1 http://www.photozone.de/8Reviews/lenses/tokina_1224_4/index.htm Last but not least, the Tamron 11-18mm: http://www.photozone.de/8Reviews/lenses/tamron_1118_4556/index.htm There are also fish-eyes (8mm, 10mm, etc.) but are non-zooms.

Given that you wanted to add a wide-angle adapter to a zoom lens, I figured you wanted a super-wide zoom. All of these lenses can be bought here on Amazon being sold by Adorama. There is also B&H Photo.

I have purchased lenses through both Adorama and B&H Photo, and have been happy with all purchases and service. Yes, but best to get wide angle lens You can use the attachments here:http://www.amazon.com/s/102-9014604-4871350?ie=UTF8&tag=mozilla-20&index=blended&link%5Fcode=qs&field-keywords=%2058mm%20Wide%20Angle%20Converter%20Lens&sourceid=Mozilla-searchon a 58 mm thread, but it's always better to get a wide angle lens directly on your camera - there probably won't be a problem with vignetting since the effective "film" size of the Rebel is less than that of a film camera, but there is still a loss of sharpness with these attachments. I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
