Have you ever told a "white lie" about your child or grandchild's age to get into an amusement park or activity for less?

My husband tells them about me to buy me senior discount tickets. My husband is old enough to qualify to senior citizen discounts (or some of them at least) and he has gray hair. He goes up to the window of the movie theater and buys 2 senior tickets.

I don't qualify for a senior discount, not yet anyway. My time is coming soon so it's only a little white lie. I'm sure that, to the teenagers behind the ticket counter, I look ancient.

I never tried it with the boys when they were young because they looked so big for their ages that people thought I was lying when I wasn't. My boys were just tall and well-developed for their ages. By the time I would have been telling a lie about their ages they looked well past the age limit anyway.

The prices are so outrageous. Some of them don't even let you bring in your own food.My kids eat very well, so if we go somewhere where they won't let me bring in my own healthy food, I "White Lie" an age or two, because now I have to buy their crappy food.

Just the opposite. We actually use situations like that as a teachable moment for our kids. We point out that we ’could’ lie about their age and save a little money, but that is lying and is not something we should do.

I don’t want my kids to see me outright lie right in front of them--I don’t want them to have that opinion of their dad. Besides, if my finances are so tight that I’m willing to lie in front of my kids just to save a couple bucks on admission, I wouldn’t be there in the first place since I couldn’t afford it. If you think about it, it generally is not about the money.

I’ve never seen anyone turn around and go home because they had to pay the extra few dollars--they just pay it and go on in. That shows how dishonest and dirty that kind of behavior really is: People don’t NEED to do it, but they do it anyway. What does that teach our kids?

NEVER! I'm much too paranoid to try. Furthermore, what kind of an example is that setting for the kids.

That's teaching them it's ok to lie when it saves you money... sounds like, "it's okay to steal because that saves money, too. " I know that's taking it to an extream, but I would NEVER lie in front of my kids because they would remember it. Someone who took my son to the movies with their son (the two boys were friends) triied that since both boys had JUST crossed the age line (whatever that was).

The parent told the clerk 12 and they were both 13. My son told me about it the next time we went to the movies. I had told him movie only... no snacks, dad doesn't have enough to pay for both this time.So he suggested telling the clerk he was 12 so he could get in cheaper and have a drink.

I asked him if he thought that was honest to which he replied. "no" (made his daddy proud). I paid the price to get into the movies and he never suggested that again.

I hope he learned honesty is important. Don't get me wrong... I'm not suggesting I'm perfect -- FAR FROM IT. This is just one of those things I've never done.

Uhm...i don't think so! He's small for his age so that is good.Lol.Im going to do it once he turns 4 and im suppose to pay.
