I love Space Mountain Growing up, I wore glasses. So anytime I’d go on a roller coaster or the like, I’d have to take off my glasses and everything would be blurry. By the time I got contact lenses, roller coasters had lost some of their charm.

But the first time I went out to meet my wife’s family in Southern California, we went to Disneyland and we made a beeline for all of her favorites - the Matterhorn, Star Tours, and so on. I ended up going on Space Mountain several times in a row (it was in the fall, and the park was pretty empty). I love the space graphics and the illusion it creates by occuring in the dark - as if you’re rocketing through space as the stars and planets are a blur around you.

Speaking of that illusion, I'll also mention that another one that I loved as a kid for the illusion it created was the 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea ride. It was always amazing to see that ride from outside - you really felt like you were going underwater, but the "Sub" remains above the whole time. 67alecto's Recommendations Disney Pin (Space Mountain 30th Anniversary LE with Stitch) Amazon List Price: $10.50 .

Superman There is nothing like the Superman ride at Great America. Unlike a rollercoaster it doesn't jerk your neck or back. Like a rollercoaster there are a lot of dips and curves. It is as close to flying as you are ever going to get..

Disneyworld Aerosmith Rockin' Roller Coaster This ride was so amazing. When I first rode it I had no idea what to expect. Imagine the thrill when it went from zero to an upside down loop in about 6 seconds!

At the time disney had no upside down rides. Now they have California Screamin' at Disneyland. I have been on scarier roller coasters and ones that made my stomach go into my throat better but Disney is the only one who can create that thrill and add the experiential magic that makes it so much more than a thrill ride.

I sure am glad I still like roller coaster. My grandsons are 1 and 2 and I hope I still love them when they get big enough to go with me! Probably won't count, but... Skydiving I've only done it a handfull of times. But when you jump out of a small Cessna, with only bit of nylon parachute behind your back, roller coasters don't have the kick they used to. It is the craziest feeling, falling towards the earth, then dangling underneath a parachute another 10 minutes untill you hit the ground.

But quite the experience, and definately the "best amusement... ride" I've been on.
