Hi fellow seniors, are our numbers dwindling on here?

Where I live in the USA there is a mixture of cash and credit or debit cards. They seem to want to transition fully to the plastic card but can't at this time. Things like the washers/dryers in the laundry and emergency phones have changed over to credit cards or a wash card and toll roads and busses have passes but strangers come to town and still need to use the cash and coin.

The lottery still seems to be a cash deal, and I still would rather give a tip in cash for the pizza guy or in a restaurant. I see where young people are using those parepaid debit cards now (I don't like paying the start-up fee on them though). Where in past years I could go to the bank and ask for a new coin that's come out well seems times have changed on that in fact banks are working on a shoestring staff now and are trying to transition to ATM's only and maybe just a lobby answerline.

These days people are receiving their check thru automation directly from the employer into their bank account. Student loans are being automatically taken (if defaulted) by automation from your IRS refund or stimulus check or your social security or disability check directly into the payment center. Government checks are being deposited automaticaly now (like retirement and disability checks) into your account to save themselves a dollar by not writing you a check.

I do like having the debit card handy, and use it to pay my bills online, because it's just easier than writing a check, finding an envelope and stamp and trudging out to the mailbox. Also, when the grandkids need donations to school fundraisers, just a couple of clicks and it's on its way. I pay my internet, car insurance, Netflix, prescription drugs, etc. online with the debit card because they are usually a set amount each month.

But, for small everyday purchases, I use cash and probably will continue to do so. I was never that good with balancing a checkbook or entering purchases in the ledger. It is easier to hold onto cash and forego the impulse purchases.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
