How did the Eddows murder complicate the Jack the Ripper case?

There were two distinct police forces in London at the time of Jack The Ripper. The City Police covered one square mile in the heart of London, known as the Mile or London Mile. Anything outside of this square mile was covered by the Metropolitan Police.

The Ripper crimes were entirely in the jurisdiction of the Met. Police until the Eddows murder, which was right inside the "Mile". Equivalent of today's 'city v.County.

When The Ripper crossed that line, he intentiionally or accidentally, caused jurisdictional problems that still plague most police forces today In America at least, there have been improvements put in place to coordinate different forces, whether they be city, county, state, or federal. With America's abundance of serial murders, a law was passed to help minimize these problems. Interstate cooperation is much better now and and in fact, multistate killers can be tried at the same time from one state, but include all crimes committed in other states by the same person.

This was a huge hurdle crossed in the capture and conviction of multi-state, multi-victim, killers Note:When there are multiple states involved it is up to the different state's prosecutors to decide where the trial will be held. Most prosecutors want the trial where they feel the jury will be more responsive to conviction and/or they feel the case is the strongest in a certain state or place Example:As in the case of serial murderer Ted Bundy, there were at least 5 states (Washington, Oregon, Utah, Colorado, Florida) where there was evidence of Bundy's handywork. But because of expense (which includes gathering evidence enough for conviction) prosecutors felt Florida had the strongest case and also had the best chance of a death penalty sentence, it was decided to leave Bundy in the capable hands of Florida's prosecutors.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
