Giggles provided a great answer. I'd like to add a brief medical point. There is one treatment for depression that has been shown to work in cases like yours and that is ECT.
Talk to your psychiatrist and see if he/she thinks you're a candidate for this therapy. Unlike in the movies, this is a very safe and effective treatment for severe, refractory depression and may help you if you've tried everything else. Hope you get better, I'm sure that's what your best friend would have wanted.
I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
