When summertime rolls around, the crafty or thrifty individual may find themselves searching for creative ways to make cool, fashionable tops from fabric found around the house. This project, using little more than a pillowcase, produces stunning results with little effort. Once you have created a basic tunic top, the possibilities for embellishment and personalization are endless.
Making a Pillowcase Tunic Top Step 1 Cut open the bottom of the pillowcase. Turn the pillowcase inside out, fold up the bottom inch, and hem the bottom of the pillowcase. Step 2 Turn the pillowcase so that you are now working with the top (where the original opening was).
Along the seam at each side, make a cut approximately 5 inches down, or 3 inches past the bottom of the hemming on this end. You may need to cut farther down depending on the size of the wearer. Step 3 You should now have a pocket at the top of the pillowcase where it was originally hemmed.
Cut a length of ribbon long enough to run ... more.
