Opened on 3 May 1907, Uttoxeter Racecourse in Staffordshire is a left-handed oval course situated between Barton on Trent and Stoke on Trent, just off the A50 motorway. With 25 fixtures annually and many special days, you can plan to watch horse racing here throughout the year. Take your pick from any one of Uttoxeter's three enclosures: the Premium Grandstand, the Grandstand and Paddock Enclosure and the Center Course Family Enclosure.

Enclosure ticket prices include admission and free parking for cars. Buy your ticket in advance. Book 5 days in advance of the race day if you book online and 1 day before if you book over the phone.

Pre-booking badges will allow enough time for you to receive them by post. You can also buy badges at the entry gate on race day. Take a train to Uttoxeter.

The Uttoxeter Railway Station is right next to the Racecourse. If you choose to drive over, take the M1, M6, A50, A515 and A518 motorways. You can land on Center Course if you come by helicopter and 7 ... more.

Goodwood racecourse is home to Glorious Goodwood, the track meet King Edward VII once described as "a garden party with racing tacked on." A day here certainly will be remembered for more than just the sport. Set in the Sussex Downs, the Goodwood is renowned as the world's most beautiful race course.

Go to Glorious Goodwood. This big event is apparently the place to be seen and is surprisingly inexpensive. Goodwood runs from the 31st of July to the 4th of August.

Go to a number of events throughout the year. All of the racecourse meets are flat races. Wear smart attire.

While the Lennox enclosure allows jeans and t-shirts, the Richmond enclosure requires men to wear suits and ladies to wear dresses. Take a picnic. The Lennox allows people to take their own food and drink.

Buy tickets. These can be bought at the gate, online or by telephone. Details are on the website (see Resources below).

Travel by train. The nearest station to Goodwood racecourse is Chicester, which you can ... more.
