Ruger Blackhawk in .45 Colt would be my choice. In fact, I've hunted mule deer (with one-shot kills up to 105 yards) with my Ruger Vaquero (same thing but fixed sights) in .45 Colt using factory Winchester Silvertip standard ammunition. If you wanted to exceed .44 Magnum power, you can use +P loads in the Ruger .45's, but for deer up to 100 yards, you will have all the power you need with a big bullet that recoils less than a .44 Magnum with standard ammo.
I hunt with a Ruger .41 magnum that has a 2-7 scope on it and have killed very easily every deer that I have shot with it. The "bite from a .41 is no where near as bad as a .44 and that eliminated a lot of the flinch factor which gives more confidence which in turn aids in the accuracy.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
