What would you recommend for shooting whitetail deer at ranges beyond 400 yards?

It is illegal for someones bullet to travel past their property. http://www.statutes.legis.state.tx.us/Do... If the bullet does property damage or travels close to your house it may be considered deadly conduct. http://www.statutes.legis.state.tx.us/Do... If you live in the city limits the city will have ordnances concerning discharging firearms within the city limits, but state law makes the cities allow it if: 1 extraterritorial jurisdiction of the municipality or in an area annexed by the municipality after September 1, 1981 2 a shotgun, air rifle or pistol, BB gun, or bow and arrow discharged: (A) on a tract of land of 10 acres or more and more than 150 feet from a residence or occupied building located on another property; and (B) in a manner not reasonably expected to cause a projectile to cross the boundary of the tract; or 2) a center fire or rim fire rifle or pistol of any caliber discharged: (A) on a tract of land of 50 acres or more and more than 300 feet from a residence or occupied building located on another property; and (B) in a manner not reasonably expected to cause a projectile to cross the boundary of the tract.

http://www.statutes.legis.state.tx.us/Do... As far as the wondering dogs go, it is up to the city or county to have ordinances concerning this. All you can do is call animal control (good luck in getting them to do anything if you didn't catch the dog). If you can catch the dog, animal control may fine him for making them get off their lazy rear ends.

They may fine him again if he doesn't have the vaccination records. But go over and talk to him politely (if you can). He may not know (but should have known) his actions could be dangerous.

In Massachusetts where I grew up a subdivision was small 1/2 to 1 acre lots where I live now it can be like that but more often it is a group of homes on 3-5 acre tracts. If it is the small lot kind call the game wardens or police. If it is the second kind it is hard to say.

I would say it is a bad place to hunt, but it may not be illegal. There may be a leash law to deal with the dogs. I guess the issue you would have is proving his bullets are flying over your property.

I don't know how you conclusively prove that. Assuming you don't live in the city limits.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
