You have most of the answers here, I've done the trip 3 times, they are so many cars and trucks on the road so you won't be alone for long, the only thing I can add is get yourself a portable 2 way radio, just a cheap hand held one will do, turn it on channel 40 in case you break down, you can ask for help off other travellers, they are good when following long wide loads as well, the pilot escorts will tell you when it's safe to pass.... I also used to take talking book CDs as well they are good to listen to on the very long and sometimes boring road.... don't drive at night or you might end up with a kangaroo or goat come through the windscreen, there are some good places to stop, I always filled the petrol tank whenever I passed a roadhouse, don't forget to have a look at the stars at night... the sky is full of them it is amazing, you won't need a roo bar if you only travel during the day, it's not as bad as some answers you're getting, i'm sure those people have never travelled it. Do the tip, you will be glad you did.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
