How's the public transportation system in Seattle?

Having lived in Seattle for 20 years, I think that it is a lot better than most cities. What I appreciate about the public transportation system there is that there are blackout times in the downtown area where you can take the bus and not pay a fee. That helps a lot when I worked in downtown and can cut my cost a little bit.

I haven't lived there in 5 years, so I don't really know how it has progressed. I do know that they finished the light rail that goes from the SeaTac Airport to I believe Shoreline area, passing downtown. I'm not quite sure how much more they're going to improve, but from what my family tells me, it will be robust.

I took it once going to the airport and it is pretty sweet. The light rail was developed slower than anticipated though. I live in Nashville now, and they have it here (albeit in a smaller scale), but theirs was finished earlier than Seattle's.

Portland, OR had theirs way earlier and faster than Seattle's too. But Nashville's PTS is nowhere near the level that I know Seattle's or Portland's are. With that being said, I guess determining how the system is can be relative in comparison to others.

I don't like Nashville's transportation system at all, so I can say that Seattle is better.
