Instead of tackling your entire missive, I'll just respond to the part about praying to Mary. Christians say Catholics pray to Mary. You claim that Catholics claim that they don't pray to Mary, they just "ask her to intercede for them."
Allow me to share a definition of the word pray: "to make earnest petition to (a person)." That's what Catholics are doing. It's just a matter of whether they pray to Mary to ask her to pray to God, or whether they pray to Jesus to pray to God.
The only difference is the mediator. Now, that brings us to the verse in the Bible that says there is One mediator between men and God and that this is the Lord Christ Jesus. So, God says no one else can come to Him with petitions on our behalf.
That's Jesus's job alone. Now, that also brings us to the fact that neither Mary nor any of the saints are omniscient. They are also not omnipresent.
They also can't read our minds. Therefore, they are incapable of hearing millions of prayers every day and relaying them to God. Now, that also brings us to the fact that Jesus Christ is God's son.
Why, then, do we think He would listen to Mary (or anyone else) instead of Christ? Nothing about the Catholic system of praying through saints makes sense Biblically. UPDATE: For those giving me thumbsdown: My facts are accurate, so I'm curious as to your reasoning; My profile allows you to contact me via Yahoo mail.
Feel free to share your insights.
I am catholic and I love my protestant brothers and sisters, but they have many miconceptions about catholics. For one we have never prayed to anyone but the Lord Jesus Christ. Anyone that tells you that we pray to Mary is 100% wrong.
Have you ever looked at the hail mary prayer. It clearly asks her to pray for us, we are not praying to her. Plus if you study your christian history it will clearly show you that sola scriptura (bible alone) was never taught by the early christian church fathers, but im a vatican 2 advocate whobelieves that protestants are our fellow christian brothers and sisters:) Also remember that there were no protestants before the reformation, and the originator of it Martin Luther also prayed the rosary.
I never argue with a fellow christian When I talk about this its out of love:) God bless.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
