I need help creating a back story for my D&D character (nerdy question, I know)?

I need to come up with something by Tuesday but I'm completely drawing a blank. Some info on my character: 22 year old human, female, cleric. I just joined this group last week so I'm only level six and I don't really have anything special going on, but I could use some help please.

Oh and also her name is Jimbo. I love this, thank you for asking. Here is my story idea: Jimbo lost and alone as a young girl, hungry and near death was taken in by a Cleric Aoximin raised Jimbo in all the cleric ways.

Finally upon her 18th birthday Aoximin told Jimbo it was time to explore her own paths and discover her life calling. Jimbo, too knew she was ready to strike out on her own and discover the world around her. Thousands of miles later she came upon a small village where she befriended a family struggling to survive.

Jimbo remembering how she too once struggled before Aoximin took it upon herself to help this young family get on their feet. One day while Jimbo was off in search of food an band of thieves and worriers rode up to the young families dwelling killing everyone. Upon Jimbo's return and discovering the massacre she swore she would find those responsible for this viscous attack.

Hope you like this story line. Its basic information that can easily be expanded upon and molded to fit into most any DM's game plan. Good Luck and Happy Gaming.

I found a few links that might be helpful in refining your character (randomly). Used by DM's for NPC generation but it might inspire you: enworld.org/forum/d-d-4th-edition-rules/... wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/dnd/20010112e I'll run the Wizards one myself and post it here (you pick the level and click "Generate Background". Each time you click you get a different result): ---Copied mostly from Generated results--- Only one of the Jimbo's parents is alive, and she is infirm.

Jimbo fears (or feared) her parents. Jimbo is an only child. Jimbo's family emigrated one or two generations ago.

How does the community react to the Jimbo's family? Well, truthfully, the family is respected and trusted. Jimbo has a single important enemy who hire(s) mercenaries to kill her.

Luckily, though, Jimbo also has a small group (about five people) who count her a true friend and allies who are in league with a powerful monster, perhaps even a dragon. As for companions, Jimbo has a ward, child, or other young companion. It (the ward, child, etc) is rumored to have dealings with monsters and other exotic creatures.

Important Events Jimbo suffered a serious accident due to her own carelessness. Although she has tried to put this mishap behind her, she has been scarred or disfigured in some way. The scar or disfigurement acts as a constant reminder of that grim happening.(It need not have a negative effect on the character's ability scores.) Jimbo was once arrested for a crime she did not commit.

Although her guilt seemed certain, the perceptive magistrate in the case sought out the truth before allowing a sentence to come down on the character's head. The character's faith in courts and legal systems was shaped by this encounter. ---End Copy--- I changed the word(s) "NPC" to Jimbo, you can embellish/edit a little bit and you're golden.

:) A background that I enjoy (if you're a roleplayer more than a dice roller) is to get permission from the DM to not know who your Deity is that you pray to. Part of your play is discovering who your god is and what they can do for you.It might fit in nicely to a storyline the DM has going where your character plays a role. I ran a long campaign where a new god was being discovered.

The cleric who gave up her previous deity to follow the new god was the center of many plots and made for a great story! What if Jimbo is destined to be sacrificed to her deity when she hits a certain age/level and she's on sabbatical coming to terms with it? Does she go through with it, gaining the protection and support of her fellow believers?

Or does she reject it and risk the wrath of god? Or worse, does her group try to save her and she constantly tries to run off to fulfill her destiny (running headlong into battle trying to die but has to use her clerical powers to save those who try to interfere but get hurt).

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
