I think I'm missing something relatively simple when I'm attempting to use my gigabit switch, I need some help. Info in details section?

The popcorn hour is notoriously short on documentation. Here is their wiki for more help networkedmediatank.com/wiki/index.php/Ma... Try this: go to the network part of your popcorn hour setup screen and make sure that you disable the wireless network and enable the wired (LAN) network. Sometimes devices can get confused if they have two interfaces connected to the same network.

If all else fails, you should reset your popcorn hour to factory default and reconfigure it to use only the LAN (wired) network Here is a link to their instructions for that support.popcornhour.com/article.aspx?id=....

I began with my linksys and plugged it into the modem and then my pc and ran a line over to my popcorn hour setup. " Ran a line... from the PC? The Linksys?

The modem? What? Also, is the cable that you're using from the switch to the Popcorn Hour the same cable you were using with the linksys?

Is everything plugged into the correct port? Try adjusting the configuration settings on the Popcorn Hour... Also, it might be helpful if you drew a diagram.

I'm not familiar with the Popcorn Hour device, but it sounds like it may not be set up for DHCP to grab an IP on your network when connected. If it has a web-based configuration interface similar to your routers, see if you can plug an ethernet cable directly in from your PC and configure it so that it either uses DHCP, or so that its IP address is on the same subnet (e.g. If your PC uses 192.168.1.123, you could give it an unused IP on that same range, like 192.168.1.124; DHCP would take care of this for you). One side note about D-Link and Linksys, in my opinion these brands aren't the greatest unless you replace their onboard OS with something like Tomato or DD-WRT.

It's been a while since I've had to shop for a router, but if they're out of litigation and back on the market I'd highly recommend a brand like Buffalo. Just my $0.02.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
