I think that curiosity would be the dominant trait defining askvillers. What do you think? Or would you nominate socializing or some other trait.

There are two types of askvillers Those who are curious and ask questions. Those who love answering them. These maybe curious people too but I think many just like to divulge knowledge either their personal knowledge or through their skill of surfing the net.

I personally like answering questions but I have asked a few as I find things that I could use good advice on. I am a curious sort so I enjoy reading other peoples answer as well.

I think we Askvillians are a fairly diverse bunch... My name notwithstanding, I think there are quite a few driving factors "in play" with Askvillians. Here are five in descending order of significance: The desire to have a ready audience and outlet for one's opinions The desire to make new friends, albeit virtual ones The addiction to a quasi-gamelike compulsion Curiosity The desire to supplement one's income with a $50 Amazon certificate after a couple months of labor Sources: a couple months of experience in Askville .

Curiosity could be part of it... ..but I don’t find it to be the most dominant trait, at least in my opinion. I think there are several things that define us: A competitive nature; A desire to show how darn smart we are(!) ak:a finding a use for all the random crap we have floating around our heads; An interest in helping others out. Socializing with like-minded individuals is definitely a draw, too.

Everyone is welcome here; it’s not earmarked for sci-fi fans or computer geeks or teens. We can all feel at home and feel comfortable with Askville as far as we care to take it. Those are the main four I see here, not in any particular order.

Something needs to draw people here and make them willing enough to stay and participate. The social component seems to be a strong draw for many--and partly due to the curiosity, as you mentioned, but maybe in another form--who’s mad at who, who said something weird, etc. Askville is just like life....pretty much!.

Maybe I think that curiousity is part of it, but also the desire to be helpful. That is a bigger one for me. :) .

Definitely - curiosity about what other's think or know and the desire to click their mouse. I am a very social person. It could have something to do with it.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
