If you could enact one law in your country that doesn't currently exist, what would it be?

That all goverment purchases must be made by expert budget shoppers From some of the more frugal shoppers on some of the better forums online. Let's see politicians try to waste tax dollars then! .

In that case, I’ll pick my gateway law: The "License to Save America Law"... which would amount to licensing for voting, jury sitting and having kids. Afterall, we test and license drivers to help minimize danger on the road... why not test and license voters, jurors and parents to minimize suckiness in society? Originally, the states required that voters be land owners and, unfortunately, these laws were slowly phased out.

I think this is a major misstep in our country’s history. In addition, lowering the voting age with the 26th amendment didn’t help either.(I think the 19th amendment hurt too, but not letting women vote is awfully unjust, of course). All these steps have opened up voting access to every yahoo out there.

I mean, I just saw a poll yesterday on how many people are affected by opinions thrown out via Hollywood... it was something like 11%! And the fact that Oprah backing Obama is such a big thing lately... ugh. I really wish such votes wouldn’t count.

Simply put, there should be a test. Some government questions, some on economics, and maybe a few logic questions. You pass and presto: license to vote.

As for licensing for jurors, I think that one’s obvious. It’s a travesty of justice to have a bunch of idiots as jurors. Have the test consist of questions concerning logic, ethics and so forth... And finally, at the base of society, I think much of our downward spiral as of late is due to faulty parenting.

If you can’t pass the parenting test and you have a kid, the penalty is: lose your kid to child services and get forcibly sterilized. This would clean up a lot of garbage. I would also consider adding something against the grain of the 14th amendment.

In short, I’d make it so EVERYONE would have to take some actions to gain citizenship, until which time, your rights would be slightly limited. From this law, many other great laws would flourish!.

I would leaglize drugs and prostitution To decriminilize drugs would stop crime like abolishing proabition of alachol did. I would then tax it like cigerates creating millions in tax revenue. Mandatory drug testing for jobs that required alertness would be but in a all who failed would not be eligable.

All employerswould be able to fire employees who were on drugs if they wished The choice to ruin ones life would be left up to the person If a woman wants to sell her body then that is her choice. Disease can be controlled better with check ups of all registered prostitutes and they would pay taxes and pay for a licience. This would also help to cut back on the white trade..

Any competent adult... may sign a binding affirmation that he has chosen not to use a safety device or precaution made available to him, and accepts full responsibility for any injury that may have been prevented by use of the device or precaution. (an employer must still make all required safety devices available whether they are used or not) Basically, that law would mean that if a somebody didn't want to use a seatbelt, hardhat, etc, they don't have to, but they will be responsible if they get hurt. That way we aren't forcing our safety precautions on people who want to live dangerously, and they aren't sticking us with the bill, if they hurt themselves..
