If you rely on Advertising Income on this site or any other site... Did You Know this & What are you?

I take it you are unaware that for many years now, the Firefox browser can have all manner of ad blocking software add-ons installed by users which function exactly the same way.

Actually this is better for us than adblockers because with Reader the ads are visible until they click the icon, and they also remain partially visible underneath while reading, With adblockers, they see nothing at all.

Thanks for that Relache and no I wasn't aware of that option with Firefox. While appreciating the ability to block ads with such an add-on, the concern in regards to this question is: That Readers within the next 5 years will be as common with an aging population as newspapers were when they became available to the general public. Apple are a major player who have declared to heavily push that option; which is not simply a declaration to be taken lightly or ignored.

I am sure that there are opportunities to counter any type of technology that can effectively undermine an industry function; however at his point in time; I am, as many others here; that industry function; potentially sinking in the wake as the industry players manipulate the industry, more than is done today.

AdSense and Amazon and many others rely on javascript, which can be disabled and selectively enabled in Firefox with the "noscript" add-on. Yes, if more people become aware of that and/or use Safari, that will become more of a problem for people with ads on their sites. You can add some PHP on your sites to detect if javascript is enabled or not when a viewer is on your site, and prompt them to turn it on.

For what that might be worth. (Look up the "noscript" tag. )I am gradually putting more emphasis on affiliate programs that don't rely on javascript on my pages.

With those, you can program the links in HTML/PHP -- no javascript -- so the links look pretty much like regular content links. Especially if you make the links to some innocuous site/page, that you have set up without the "give-away" affiliate code. Then that site/page (which no one really sees or otherwise goes to) redirects the viewer to the actual affiliate promo page, along with your affiliate ID or number.

Unfortunately, this is more work for us because we have the extra step of setting up cloaking for each link.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
