Maybe - but I have a feeling when that happens you become one of those people who can't look themselves in the mirror anymore. And that isn't good. Except for things like "does this dress make me look fat?" - I think honesty is the best policy.
As long as no one is interested or invested in the truth, then they will begin to believe it. It simply means that they don't care what the truth is, and you can believe whatever you want to believe.
There is a whole group of people who love to lie to each other and to encourage the lies. They tell them whenever they can and fight with anyone who disagrees with them.....they are called conservatives. These people do not care what the truth is.
They love the stuff that they make up.
Personal-Injury inadvertently hit on an answer due to his misspelling "herd" for "heard". Humans are herd animals. Most submit to authority and accept what they say.
Lies when repeat again and again hides the identity of truth just like during the early days it was thought that earth was the center of the solar system.
I don't know if people will believe it or not, but you could start believing it yourself.
I think people just end up thinking I have herd that lots of times so it must be true, specially if they herd it from differnt people.
Because lies are very powerful tools used by manipulative people to get what they want; and unless and until the lie is exposed for what it is, in a way that proves the innocence of the target of the lie, the lie will continue to be spread through rumor and fear. Often, the target gets shunned and reviled, while the liar sits back and laughs. The victim gets trapped into a corner and seems to have no way to really defend himself/herself without looking as bad as the liar.
"----sometimes because the liar looks harmless and of course hides the lie under a few truths, so people are inclined to believe them. Remind ya of anyone? Like maybe......Satan!
I hate lies. And I pray to God not to hate the liar. It's very tempting to hate the liar.
After all, which of us has not been the victim of a liar? Few of us I bet.
P.S. I'm a conservative, and I'll expose a LIE right now-----the second half of SteveoMc's post!
You are quoting Josef Goebbels I think. He repeated many lies to the German people and they believed him. After all, tler was democratically elected.
On the other hand, the German people were ready willing and able to be deceived. The time was right and they were ripe to receive lies.
My point is that it always takes two. There always has to be a willing or weakened receiver of the lie. Self confident, well educated assertive people fall for repeated lies less easily than do superstitious frightened people.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
