It would be really nice to know what you plan to use your new laptop for. If you want the best laptop with the best user experience by a company that has the highest ratings in Consumer Reports for the last couple years then you need to look at a MacBook Pro. I am not going to list features because every feature does not translate into benefits. So how does buying a Mac benefit you?
(These are the reason I use a Mac)Every Mac comes with top of the line consumer software. ILife will handle all of your digital lifestyle needs. IMovie, iPhoto, Garageband, iWeb, and iDVD allow you Organize, edit, and share your photos, video, and music.
They are easy to use and master. You will spend $250 or more on equivalent software for a Windows PC. Service and Support.
Apple has been rating with the best customer service in the industry. They really do want you to fall in love with your Mac. They provide online and in-store training.
If you're near an Apple store you can sign up for personal training session to help you learn how to get the most out of your Mac. The Genius bar is also a great personal tech support for when things might go wrong. Even Apple's phone support is a pleasure to use.
I can go to the website and schedule a time for them to call me! No more waiting on hold.No other computer company offers this level of personal help and care. Everything on the Mac was made to work together.
Once you learn one application, what you've learned will apply to the next. The Mac gets out of your way when you are trying to get stuff done. This will make the super geeks roll their eyes but I do not run any Anti-Virus or Anti-Spyware on my Mac.
Sure there are companies that say you should buy their software for when the day comes. But they've been saying that for years. If you use good smart internet practices you won't need to be bothered with updating your virus database and it slowing down your computer.
The hardware and software are on the same page. Apple makes OS X for their Mac hardware and vice versa. Of course the design is beautiful but it's also very well thought out.
And the build quality on the new MacBook Pros can not be beat. The average life span of a Mac laptop is over 5 years. Usually a person upgrades before the machine wears out.
I am currently typing this on a 4 year old MacBook Pro.It's is still a great machine and looks brand new. There's nothing I can not do on it. All the newest software works on it and it outperforms newer, cheap, PC laptops.
If you can just go to an Apple store. I promise you will walk away with a great experience. Wether you buy a Mac or not.
You will at least know why everyone else is.
I always worked with Hewlett Packard. My first laptop was a HP, and right now I’m using the same brand. To answer your question we could really use additional information on what is your price range, and what exactly are you trying to do with it, you are using it for browsing the internet only?
For games? Etc… For $649.99 I would recommend the HP Pavilion DV6T series.

I've always had Toshiba as my laptop computers. I think they're normally really fast and work well with the different programs I use such as music writing software, voice recording software, and video editing software. It will be tough to recommend a specific model for you because I'm not sure what you're looking for in terms of screen-size, memory capabilities or operating systems.
I can tell you what I know, though. The one I'm typing on right now is a 10.1'' mini. I chose a smaller one because I would need to take it around with me to classes and I wanted something very portable.
The only thing I didn't like about it right off the bat was it's memory. It comes with 1GB DDR2 and I didn't think it would be enough to do what I needed to do. I talked to the sales guy, though, and he told me that this model supported an add on to 2GB and I was sold!
It was a great purchase. I got everything I wanted: speed, portability and... well, that's about it. I don't need much in a computer.
You might have different preferences, but this is my experience with Toshiba. I would highly recommend a model similar to the one I have, or slightly bigger.

I don't know if it was the computer or Windows, but I hated it. That's why I got this one, and when I did, I downgraded to XP. Now you can get Windows 7 and you'll probably by good.
Prices for Toshibas are great. Mine was $349 plus the added memory for around $30. Not bad for a new computer that works great!
I hope this information has helped you, and good luck in getting a new laptop!
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
