Life as an airline pilot?

My dad's a pilot and has been for years. My dad plenty enjoys life outside work, and while he's flying he gets into some good conversations with fellow pilots - whilst still enjoying family and friend time when he gets home. Pilot's days off can vary.

When flying long haul (international flights) - days off will be longer and there will be more of them, but they will be away for longer to help them adjust to time zones. When flying short haul (domestic, European assuming you're from the UK), they may have a few days off, but will find they have to fly a couple of 'legs' (trips to and fro different places) a day. This can prove t be exhausting.

However, pilots can bid on where they want to go, when, and when their days off will be and how long they will be for. The higher your seniority, the more likely you are to have a successful bid. If by holidays you mean travelling abroad with family, what I do know is only of British Airways.

The more senior you are, the more likely you are to be able to go on holiday via 'Staff Travel' - where your flight is essentially free. However, this can have its problems as it is only dependant on if there are spare seats on the plane on the day. I hope this helps!

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
